Is Internet Explorer preventing you from downloading files?

 
There may be occasion for you to download an MS Excel file from BigWave. There is a chance that your Internet Explorer settings are restricting the download causing it to fail. If you see the error message:

To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options.


This problem may be corrected with the following steps:



(1) Open your Internet options by choosing Tools\Internet Options from the Internet Explorer menu.









(2) On the ensuing dialog choose the "Security" tab, then select the "Trusted sites" icon. Then click the "Sites" button.








(3) Enter "*.bigwaveprojects.com" in the "Add this website to the zone:" box. Uncheck the "Require server verification" checkbox. Click the "Add" button.









(4) "*.bigwaveprojects.com" should have been added to the "Websites:" box. Click "Close" once you have confirmed it looks correct.







(5) Choose the "Custom level" button on the Internet Options dialog box. Then scroll down through the options until you see "Downloads" and then "Automatic Prompting" for file downloads. Make sure the option in this section is set to "Enable". Choose "Yes" when prompted to be sure you want to change the settings.



Thats it! Now Internet Explorer should download MS Excel files from BigWave without errors.
